Odds are we would work some deal with CUSA. My dream scenario would be to get a Missouri Valley invite for our other sports. Travel would be more costly, but it would bolster our efforts to raise our profile to coincide with the Indy status. Like I said, commitment.
Unless Louisiana can move directly into a P5 Conference (which is unlikely in the immediate future), the SBC is the very best place the Cajuns can be! At one time, the AAC was considered by most to be the best of the G5 conferences and the SBC was seen as the worst. But if anyone has been paying attention, the SBC is now considered the best of the G5 conferences by many on the national scene, and will only get better as the AAC, CDOA and the other G5 conferences continue to struggle for a new identity after loosing many of their best programs (including some upgrading to the SBC). The landscape of today's G5 conferences is NOTHING like it was just a few years ago, and that history should not be used to base a decision on what conferences are better than the SBC in today's world! IMHO, only the SEC, BIG10, ACC or BIG 12 would be worth moving to at this time and in today's NCAA. And when I look up, I don't see any of those in my immediate view.

Gotta start brandswathing at some point.
    Turbine,
You do a great job with this site and I respect you very much. But the push you have been making for UL to go Independent for so many years is ridiculous! Only Notre Dame, BYU and Army (or any military academy) have enough of a national following and financing to make that work.

If it is about money, UL could increase that by simply scheduling 4 or 5 P5 road games every rather than one P5, two G5's and one FCS school.

I love you dude, but you have been way off base on this topic for far too long.

    Interesting.
So those that now like the sunbelt but used to not like it and want to move tell those that always wanted to stay in sbc vs any other g5 that they were right all along?

If everything is about money why are two of the best teams in mlb right now 2nd to last and 3rd to last in spending?

Is there a way to make winning not about money the way they have? Although I realize in ncaa money is the reality is that the way everyone here really wants it to be?

Ironically since all the schools are nonprofits allegedly

Also pac 12 allowed usc to be in without softball
BYU was a full member of the MWC until it went Independent in 2011. It then joined the West Coast Conference for all other sports where it remained until joining the Big 12 this year.

Its undoable now for making a move.

It doesn’t erase the missed opportunity that once existed.

    . . . a move like this is normally supported by a business plan . . . let's see your plan . . .

    How about DONOR money?

Is that just magically going to show up for us?

    The opportunity has past.

What part of undoable is confusing?

    Can't be done.

I can give the reasons if you want.
