Default How you build brand and create excitement

UL could have done (football) this with any number of players...a season long promotion and retirement of a players number...Brilliant.

Which player would we have done it for?

People here would have b’ed if we waited til now to retire a number from 06-09

The honoring of Edwards' No. 14 is the last time App State plans to take a jersey number out of circulation due to limited inventory of jersey numbers for the roster each season.

Could have done a full on promotion for the season with CF 50th Anniversary or maybe you honor the SBC champs with a promotion featuring the number of wins..13. My point is it's a very good marketing idea....doesn't have to be a player...but there are several, like Peanut Tillman that could be honored

If we have a $5M dollar marketing budget just for athletics it would be best spent marketing towards the student body. We can’t rely on House Divided fans to show up and support UL over LSU. They won’t do it. Instead our entire marketing focus needs to be on current students on campus. Build your new and permanent fan base.

Sad to say, but I don't think we ever see another Brian Mitchell, Charles Tillman, etc. graduate from UL. As soon as a player has an All-American worthy freshman, sophomore, or junior season, they will be off to a P5 school for the big NIL money that UL can not afford to pay. The destruction of G5 football is really sad.
. . . any one who does not see this is just not looking . . .

It will be sad if more are scooped away, although if people see an increase in NIL for transferring compared to those who already were the big time, maybe the number of those coming to g5 first to seek the transfer NIL increase also increases
