Thread: Cajun Field, the playing surface

Default Cajun Field, the playing surface

Was at the scrimmage last night and while taking a picture of our pink end zone near the tunnel, I was told the field will be repainted before the NW game. Thank goodness for that!

I was going to post the pic and start a thread, but not necessary.

Thank goodness indeed! I’m glad we will be cheering on the vermilion and white instead of the pink and white.

I’m worried about the field being prone to producing some injuries. Maybe I’m overthinking it but it’s really beat up. Heck Jathan Caldwell, TE 84, busted his knee during the Friday practice.

Taking pictures? I thought you’d be telling us about your arrest and escort out of Cajun Field. Clearly stated no pictures to be allowed. ;@)

Wife and I were talking about this Friday. How old is the turf? I could be wrong but I dont remember our turf ever being replaced since it was installed. Conversation came up because Teurlings just replaced theirs. Their turf could not be more than 10 years old at the most.

Yes. They had the original turf and one replacement. The original had the black in the end zones.

It was installed before the 2017 season.

I believe it was around 2016 or 2017.

Being paints are custom mixed, what a great time to get vermilion out in the public. I’ve been around enough where I’m not buying “it costs more” line.

It would involve work I’d guess.

I just learned this about the color vermilion.

“This particular color has been around for many years and originates from the powdered mineral known as cinnabar, which is toxic as it contains mercury sulfide. The color is often referred to as a vermilion red color, as it is a bright red-orange that is saturated and warm.”

I know I get saturated and warm a lot!

The original was from a barely used Saints Turf.

That was the turf in the ipf.

The original turf at Cajun field was Pro Grass if I remember correctly.

The Teurlings and Clark field turf is Geosurfaces turf. Teurlings has a turf track too. (I designed both Teurlings and Clark Field)
