Not being able to compete with many doesn’t change the fact we need more NIL money, or most of our problems overall starts with insufficient capital to compete at the highest level.

You don’t believe a word that you posted. CMD absolutely doesn’t believe that. His pod interview with Jay was spot on, collaborating with agents is happening. Just don’t get caught.

I mostly agree with his opinion, as you saw that TAMU’s #1 class from a couple of years ago has mostly disbanded. Getting players that are coming for the school, the coaching staff and the community will breed a lot more loyalty than just $$$$. Doesn’t mean $$$ don’t mean anything, but that cannot be the only reason for a decision.

The more we can have success of players in the NFL, and of this coaching staff having coached those players, the better we can recruit, develop and retain talent.
If you think that young people with exceptional talent and poverty aren’t motivated by money you’re nuts. If that’s their sole motivation they still can compete at a high level in order to get to their next payday the NFL. A person of bad character will have bad character with or without money.

If we don’t play Houston in the Independence Bowl, I think Amos is still a Cajun. He owned Tank Dell.

Hey, Big Buds. Alabama had the analytics going back 3 seasons. They knew exactly what they were getting when they dropped $350k on Trey Amos. He is not projected as a starter but as a situational player, a fifth defensive back in nickel situations.

The problem with this business for a school like Louisiana is that Trey Amos had excellent coaching for three years. We paid Trey's position coach $250k/year to coach him up, and the kid cashes out with all we put into him. The bottom line is that schools like Alabama can not only decimate a roster like ours but also ruin a serious capital investment we made. No matter how much we loved and coached Trey, no matter how much he loved Louisiana, he could not pass up $350k. That is the point.

Schools like Louisiana cannot compete in an environment like that. No way in hell that this type of system is fair to our university. We have become a farm club, a minor league for the Autonomous 5.

    He got 250K, not 350K.

Yup Garner had a 2nd round grade while here. Left for LSU and was their best CB. He went undrafted. He will likely still make a NFL roster this season though.

I never thought Garner was that good. When he left UL he was a third team sun belt corner.
