. . . it is quite apparent that that administration has made a decision that the best path forward is to tie Marlin up to finish his career with an ultimate retirement as a Ragin Cajun . . . they believe that he is close enough to the mark to make that happen and have decided to make that happen . . . no more bickering on this board will change things . . . its time for Cajun fans to buckle up and support this staff and those athletes who choose to wear Louisiana across their chest . . . finished, fini, over . . . the last set of posts are just getting into the weeds and the further you go into the weeds the higher the likelihood that you would be stung . . . BB, there is your path and the time to achieve it . . . go get you some D1 coaching experience and it should be a cakewalk right in between now and the time the Big Fish decides to retire but no longer than 4 years . . .
Campbell was already in division one both of their entire lives
Also, Coach Perrin has been mentored by Chris Beard who is now at Ole Miss. Despite the situation that occurred at Texas, you can’t deny he has an excellent record as HC. That includes an NCAA Tournament Finals appearance at Texas Tech. Basketball wise, he has worked under one of the best in the profession. Note I placed this post before reading what Cajuns80 said. Sorry to basically repeat his comments.
We will hire another coach one day. It will not occur following a season in which a conferene championship (regular season or tournament) has been won. Can someone tell me when or where that has occurred previously. It may have somewhere. I don’t recall that happening anywhere other than when the coach retires or off the court issues are a problem. As CajunT said, people who make those decisions have a different perspective than fans.
So to everyone here defending Marlin....do yall think this is the best we can do here?
I'm just worried where all those double-doubles that left for Memphis are going to be replaced....
Lamar is a shell of its former self. After the Key/Davis/Olivier crew finished in ‘83, made 2 NCAA appearances since…2000 and 2012. 16th seed and a first four playin.
I’d love for things to be different schedule wise. But at least we’re not in the shape Tech (32 year streak) Lamar (11 year streak) UNO (6 year streak preceded by 21 years) and McNeese (21 year streak, only one other appearance, ‘89) are. Yeah, McNeese got WW, but that desperation move won’t last long. Will be back sucking in a few years.
