Marlin Contract Extension - FOUR MORE YEARS!

This Athletic Department has truly lost their minds. I am convinced that they don't care about success, now I can go back to not caring about Basketball again.

Success is winning a conference championship and we did.
This post would be justified had we not, but we’ve played in the conference tournament final in back to back years, in case you forgot.

A contract is a contract and should be honored, but winning a conference tournament should bonus worthy, not be "extention" worthy.

I’m really perplexed as to what y’all were really expecting.

Everyone knew it was coming, not worth the rise in blood pressure, real or assumed.

Rewarding a coach yet putting the coach on a short leash does not happen unless the coach is an idiot with off the court public drama.

Over the last decade we've averaged over 20 wins per season. While that isn't good enough for some of you (and I'm sure you'll try to detract from those numbers), I can guarantee there are HUNDREDS of D-1 programs that wish they had that kind of success.

Quit acting like the program sucks.

College AD reporting Bob Marlin gets a 3-year extension.
So remaining year on current contract plus 3. Four more years. Strap in.

VObserver, what's Marlin's record against the RPI (now net) top 150? Also, what's his record against 150+? You can make numbers say whatever you want. Happy we made the dance last year with a once-in-a-decade type talent, but 4 more years? Hmmm

Coach Marlin deserved his extra few years with what we accomplished last season.

With that said, I personally think 4 years is too many based on the last 5 seasons. Up until tournament weekend in 2022, he had one foot out the door until that 3 day run. Then, last year it was win or leave which we won.

We can talk about padded wins against the likes of McNeese and Loyola-New Orleans until the cows come home, but the reality is that he saved his job in 2022 and last year with late season runs.
