USL's recent decision to turn independent also was a factor in taking the South Florida job, according to Paschal. He praised the Sun Belt Conference and said the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament helped shape his decision.

Well, Lamar had 9 players drafted to the ABA/NBA during that time frame.

McNeese had Joe Dumars. Who was NBA Finals MVP.

UNO went to the NIT/NCAA 3 times during that period as well.

    Not really a good argument.

I don’t see the point of continuing to debate this as decision hAs been made. Their was no choice from previous contract. Not having some type of extension would have killed recruiting. Time to focus on preparing for the upcoming season. I am confident Guys on the team will have great focus in doing so.

The Brass at UL has used that argument before to give early extensions.

I don't think it sways a kid one way or the other.

If Marlin had his current record with Paschal's level of competition (in today's world) he would have been hired away already.

No you’re discrediting a UL HOF Inductee because he lost Lamar, McNeese and UNO.

Well during that span Lamar had 9 ABA/NBA draft picks. McNeese had a NBA Finals MVP and UNO was stacked as well.

Not all losses are the same.

LoL! Then I guess we can never hire another coach. Geezus Krist, the level people go to defend mediocrity, status quo and "their guy". But knowing the University can do much better makes us a "bad fan" and "negative". I'm afraid it's the opposite. If you're defending Marlin and glad he's been extended only means you think this is the best we can do. No wonder it's always 1 step forward, two steps back with this university. New USL. Same as the old USL. Sickening.
