Thread: Let’s Talk Some Baseball

. . . raise the price for thee but not for me . . . reasonable increases on every ticket available should not only be the expectation, it should be the desire . . . in most instances, that means acceptable performances, increased demand or both . . . what a wonderful thing if both were to happen . . .

Cajuns softball season ticket prices are only half of OU’s softball season ticket prices.

On the patio box side for 1st and 3rd base there is hardly anyone down either side. I guess the empty boxes are corporate.

I can say this only for me but if they think charging more than $556 a person for the season is realistic, they are wrong.

I hope they understand the cost it takes to bring a family to the park.
I agree nothing should be for free, however be careful if they go up they will be losing a lot of die hard baseball fans.

Going up on ticket prices and reseating without option to renew are 2 totally different conversations

So are we talking about raising ticket prices or are we talking about reseating?

    They will do both.

Increasing seat licensing fees. While also increasing per seat cost.

RCAF donor level benefits will drive the reseating.

Man I hope not. I am not ready to join a couple of friends who already just watch the games at home.

How many teams have 2.5 million dollar sb budgets? And what is the UL sb budget? The Cajuns sb team gets more out of $50 than the big dogs get out of $5000.

Ok I stand corrected. 2nd highest in the nation. Was first before OU built Love Field.

The average softball budget in the SEC is $2M, Alabama was over $3M in 2023. If you aren't aware of this as a softball, you might want to some research. What was the Cajuns softball budget this past season?

No clue what UL budget is. That is why I asked you.

There was no price increase last year, but you are trying to convince me people are going to show up at Cajun Field this season had UL reduced ticket prices? I'm not buying what you are selling period. And let's not mention UL is now dealing with a $6M loss in athletic revenues.

It’s working out so well. First time in what a decade we didn’t sell out season tickets for baseball? That worked out well.

    > Again, you are jumping the gun here. Are ticket prices for baseball going up? No, I've seen my account and they are the same. Now there will be an increase coming eventually, shocking right?

When there is zero fan base left we can charge $1M a ticket to fund the program.

    > Right, because this community has proven it doesn't give a ____ about this program even when it has won. Is it all cost related? No buddy, there are still 15K in season tickets for LSU in Lafayette Parish, but I'm suppose to believe the same people that _____ about paying $10 for parking are going to buy reduced tickets?

Inflation is up nearly 30%. You think people have the funds to keep pouring it into Cajun athletics?

We are down to Baldwin levels of support here for football. We will likely win 9 games this season as well.

    >No, I don't expect people to be happy for increased cost of goods and service. But can you tell me how many businesses have reduced their prices because people are struggling? But athletics is suppose to be a charity?

Baseball regionals, won’t sell out our season ticket allotment. Keep raising prices.

    >Baseball and Softball grandstands were sold out. The other seating was not. Did ticket prices go up this past season? So, should they devalue their products because the economy? Remember, neither raised ticket prices.

Softball will sell out, but the older crowd will die off. And we’ve done a ____ poor job of developing a younger fan base.

Sure let’s raise prices more to compete. As if we are playing on a level playing field already. Those days are gone man. Another decade and we won’t even be in the same classification.
    > So the answer is reducing prices while we are back at the bottom of the SBC? I guess we should just go back to the SLC because trying to remain relevant in our current conference is too much to ask. Got it!
