How many folks would actually tune in or even understand a French broadcast?

Well quite a few people are in the target audience. About 300 million currently and over half a billion in 2050.

If I were made UL president for a day, this is the very first thing I would make happen. For a university that supposedly embraces the French heritage of this state and its people, we do a terrible job of promoting that.
We do a terrible job at promoting anything. We can't even promote in our own city and state, much less the world.

This is such low hanging fruit even government officials can get this. The Lafayette tourism council should underwrite the broadcast. That’s one way of getting French tourists interested in Lafayette and Cajun culture, foods, and history. If you think this isn’t true why do they advertise Lafayette in all ESPN plus SBC sports. Definitely enough to pay for announcers.

We do have a lot of international students. Many from french speaking countries. I'm sure some would follow along and get their families to watch every now and then. I know I used to listen to Jay when I was little and broadcast.com was first starting out. Gave me something to listen to when I was snowed in. lol.

If krvs were to broadcast it maybe they could also add it as secondary audio channel on the ESPN feed. We'd be the only college doing it and might get us a world wide audience. That's how you move up conferences

Saints were granted international marketing rights in France earlier this year. Basically they are the NFL team for France. Most other international markets through this program have multiple teams. It's not exactly for broadcasting games but instead for selling gear and hosting events such as flag football leagues. I can easily setup and produce a radio broadcast of our high school games internationally if I wanted so I'm sure the university can figure it out.

This is progressive thinking and is still met with skepticism. Not from me though, I don't see any downside!

Totally agree. The number of Spanish speaking potential fans in this area, particularly for baseball and softball, is significant.
