Thread: They’ve Given Up

  1. Default They’ve Given Up

Won’t market. Wont sell. Won’t listen. Won’t interact. Won’t implement real solutions. Won’t shoot people straight. Won’t adjust. Won’t work.

Can’t protect media market. Can’t gain trust of the community. Can’t understand that the messaging is paramount. Can’t engage with the general population. Can’t grow the RCAF. Can’t get acceptable gear to the fans. Cant resurrect tailgating. Can’t figure out a mascot. Can’t think ahead.

They want to be App and USM, want to charge the prices of App and USM, but they’re unwilling to understand the people of Acadiana are different and respond to different things. They don’t want to do the work that it takes to get that level of support, either.

Is it NIL? Is it changing landscape of collegiate athletics? Is it incompetence? Does Maggard have one foot out of the door? Maybe all of the above but one thing is very clear: They’ve given up.

And I’ll explain on my final Ragin Review show with Gerry and Nick coming soon.

I can tell you that for me personally, I have never cared less about Cajun athletics.

It’s just not exciting and the admins lack of ability to capitalize on anything has made me unwilling to give anything extra to the programs. I’ll be at all the home games but that’s likely it.

I agree with most of Mat points (man, my “overseers” gunna be ____ed). I don’t know if I agree with his conclusion about them giving up.

I said last year that they needed to re-examine everything they do to prepare for this academic year and make changes. Unfortunately i haven’t seen anything to demonstrate it’s not business as usual. And I think business as usual hasn’t worked (ex. Attendance at FB last year)

Im hoping to be surprised in the next few weeks.

To be in the attendance situation we are in 1-2 years after finishing in the top 20 back to back years is frustrating....

Also with the current NIL/ transfer portal situation it is even more frustrating as a fan of a G5 program

I'll still be at every home game but the excitement we once had as a fan base is waning

I’ve complained in the past about apathy among our fans, but this summer is far and away the worst I’ve ever seen. Even the most diehard UL friends I have couldn’t care less about football or anything Cajuns related. I mean, you guys know how much I’ve cared about and given to promote the Cajun cause over the years. It’s sad that I've gotten to this point, but think of the average fan.. If we’ve gotten to this point, where are they?

I’ll be telling stories from the past 5 years that will probably get me banished from the complex..

MAT, saying it over and over, aside from the Football being played, there is nothing Ragin or Cajun about a Saturday inside Cajun Field...and it would be so easy to flip that script...and, there are countless examples/ideas of what other schools do that UL could "steal"...

We have literally sat in admin offices and said this exact phrase. They just don’t care, 71. If it’s not their idea or their way, it’ll never happen. The credit wars in those offices are out of control. Look no further than the Barnes & Nobles catastrophe…
