It starts in Martin Hall and trickles down to everything else. This university is the Harvard/Yale/Princeton/MIT of doing it wrong. Has been for 50 years with few exceptions. Same ole dance to a different song.
Respect your opinion, MAT. But I really don't agree with this at all. It's okay to be frustrated, but airing it out is not helping. Be positive.
Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. I have a feeling Tony would just man up, go to work, and get it done. He set an example. He dealt with all the frustrations you are dealing with, and it did not stop him.
If you want to change what is going on, you must start with yourself. Don't 86 it; 36 it.
We need some salesmen on commission. Find some retired O&G sales guys that are bored. They already know the local business community. I mean I bet my dad would do it.
My recent anecdote about a friend who is a local small business owner and the RCAF, the conclusion to that plot was: we have nothing available, do you want to be on a waitlist?
No, "would you like x, y, z instead or while you wait for a box to open up? If you are also looking to donate, we have x,y,z initiatives that can get you an elevated RCAF membership."
Not trying to pile on, but it's definitely a contributing factor to the apathy described in this thread. I think it's easy for other posters and even the admin to dismiss threads and posts like this as complainers, but it's only that we care. When there's no caring anymore, turn the lights off.
Get a grip on yourselves people. This heat wave is getting to yall. This is nothin more than typical dog days of summer depression kicking in.
As soon as football season starts and the cool weather comes, the juices will start flowing again. Trust me.
I agree it seems the administration has given up. That doesn’t mean I have. I can only imagine, or hope, they are laying low until the renovation is publicly announced and a huge push will be made then. Full court press heading into the ‘24 season???
Head in the sand. The absolute failure of marketing, failure to understand what is here, failure to capture what’s special about this place and the failure to do anything that works. If on the administration.
Calling out thief failures isn’t being negative. It’s demonstrating weakness within the system. How do they change it, respond to it, or just move along acting like nothing will make it better.
I can tell you that they will do nothing. We know they will do nothing because they never do anything.
For example, this university will wait until the USM game to start pushing the stadium reconstruction. That’s the 10th ____ing game if the season. Does that make any sense at all? Does that build a buzz around this season, build excitement, rejuvenate a base that is fading away?
But let’s sure as hell promote DEI and Gender Studies and any other bull____ non-productive program at this university likes it’s an accomplishment.
R1, Great! Thank you COVID and the primate research center. Top 20 in football, SBC Championship, 13-1 season….silence.
But it’s not done deliberately. Come on man, Savioe and Authement might as well be first cousins.
Well the guys thought it would be unfair to just stop showing up for the show and asked that I post something to start the conversation. And with respect, I’ve manned up a lot over the years. But especially via RR, where we spent 20-30 hours a week doing a show, connecting people, engaging other belt fanbases, doing live events, inviting people to our tailgates, blasting the brand as far as we could, interviewing commissioners/national personalities/writers/administrators/officials and giving several thousands of dollars to RCAF and various other initiatives. People probably forget that during covid and thereafter, RR was the only “media” talking Ragin Cajuns sports. And for what? To be flat out lied to? Lied about? To have “friends” sabotage your efforts behind the scenes? To be vilified for asking hard questions?
It’s not even about the RR stuff for me though. I’m willing to fight for anything I believe in, but I will not waste my time and resources on something/someone that isn’t willing to fight for themselves. And that’s what is happening at this University.
Just this week I have received at least 4-5 emails about the upcoming season, one mailer, at least daily facebook posts with many being hype video's for the upcoming season. I don't do twitter but can only assume their are tweets going out daily. Last week I received my parking passes only days after I spoke to a rep at rcaf about mailing them since I won't be in town till game day this year, and received a direct email from rcaf. I can't comment on the Lafayette advertising since I live out of town, but to day that rcaf and athletics aren't marketing is a misleading statement.
