Thread: Recruiting Question

    UL Football Recruiting Question

We have a kid, senior DT with a ton of potential. He's 6'3" 275. He had 8 sacks last year. He can be dominant when he wants to. Our team hasn't had much success for a while, so he's flying under the radar. I recently tweeted out him benching 345 and tagged the Cajuns recruiting coordinator. What else can I do to get him noticed? He has regularly dominated Louisiana 5A competition. He camped at NSU and Tech, but I want someone from UL to get a look at him. This is my 2nd year coaching, so I'm new to this. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Once you said he can be dominant when he wants to, you lost me. Looks like he isn't self motivated and has a questionable work ethic. We don't need guys who takes plays off.

Send game film...that's what coaches want to see. Also hit up the other coaches in the area/district for ideas, connections etc. In your area, Houghton HS has sent at least 5 guys to UL, however most are P walk-ins I believe...

Summer camps is where kids get noticed the most. If he didn't go to UL camp between his Jr and Sr year he’s done. Did tech and NWST offer? If so jump on it.

I missed he was a Sr....regardless, so the next prospect you have, continue to work your area connections...

Contact the staff for a coaches pass and tour of the facilities for the opening game. Bring the player and some game film.

    1) If you are his coach haven't sent out his junior film to at least all state programs and surrounding schools in the region, you are way behind the curve. Camps are fine, but the Cajuns and other programs have already set up boards for the next 2 or 3 classes including kids that have camped here the past two years.

    2) At this point, you should also send out his junior film to Texas and Miss JC's.

    3) Reach out to Coach Austin Shepherd and set up an unofficial visit for one of the Cajun's home game. Get him the junior video.
