Thread: UL Soccer defeats McNeese in exhibition game

  1. Default UL Soccer defeats McNeese in exhibition game

This was not noted here as of yet, but UL women's soccer defeated McNeese 2-1 last night in an exhibition match in Lake Charles. I did not see the game or follow the stats, but in looking at the stats this morning it looks like the game was not as close as the score indicated. UL took 23 total shots vs McNeese's 9. UL had 7 shots on goal vs McNeese's 2. The UL goalkeepers had 1 save vs McNeese's 5. UL spent 61% on McNeese's side of the field, while McNeese only had the ball in UL's half of the field for 44% of the time. And UL had the ball almost 60% of the game.

It sounds like we were attacking most of the game, while McNeese was playing more time on D.

UL will travel to play Northwestern State in an exhibition game Saturday at 5 PM, before starting the regular season in Murfreesboro, TN vs Middle Tennessee on Thursday August 17 at 7PM.

Can’t imagine how brutal heat was. Our athletes must be in great condition

I don't think it was as bad as it could have been, considering it was an exhibition and we played 22 ladies. In a real game, there is no way that may girls play. The fewest minutes anyone played for the Cajuns was 26. Most everyone played at least 1/2 of a 1/2, but outside of 2 players for the Cajuns, almost everyone played between 25 - 60 minutes. Again, due to the nature of it being an exhibition game, the expectation was not for anyone really to play like they would in a regular season game. Now had we played that kind of offense in a regular season game, with let's say a normal 13 or so ladies playing, then yes, I would assume our athletes would have to be in some amazing shape and condition.
