Beginning to feel like the old WKU setup. Saturday games there none here for about a decade

But playing App in basketball isn’t a big deal.

It's automatic. The 400 mile rule applies to Saturday games. It's the distance between games that is the issue.

Maybe not the team saying no, but If the venue is booked on Wednesday what happens?

Four games in a row twice. Maybe get to one day of class during each trip. Similar to last year. Does the Belt hate students. I could not have survived that. I’ll have to look at how many other bball belt teams get to do this.

We will also have a Saturday home game on Saturday February 10 against a MAC school to be determined.

As far as the overall schedule goes, the 2 games we are buying are supposedly against higher quality mid majors than we have played at home in the past. I am not at liberty to reveal those yet as last I heard the contracts have not been finalized. Of course that was almost a month ago so things could have changed and I am just not aware of current status.

Actually, depending on how they travel, this could result in fewer missed classes. You're going to see this sport gravitate more and more to charter flights. The three Eastern newcomers charter almost exclusively.

If you play Wednesday, you leave via charter Tuesday afternoon. You play Wednesday night and come home right after the game. You attend class Friday (everything is before noon) and leave Friday afternoon after classes are finished.

    Under the current schedule.....

If you fly commercially, you have to get an early flight out, otherwise you're looking at lots of delays and cancellations. So you miss class all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning.

The key is charter flights for the front end of a two game trip.

    A. Where is nearest airport to app state for charter?
    B. Dist between odu and app st is less than 400 miles but of you go through Charlotte then it is more than 400
    C. Texas st and USA are each less than 400 from UL and you would pass back through lafayette on way from TX st to usa.
    D. Scenario B. Does not get the Wed. Game but c. Does?

Seems like you could also make classes on Thursday, depending on how late you get back in.

Charter flights is something that has been pushed by many, somewhat due to the favorable impact on academics. Cost has been an issue limiting this in the past. I don't know how many times we will do this but I did notice we play at Old Dominion and App State on a Thursday/Saturday schedule. Seems like that would have been a charter opportunity. Maybe we charter to the first game and charter back home with other travel in between. On our website we do show the conference games, the one at Toledo on November 11, the three MTE tournament games Thanksgiving week, and the home game against a MAC school on February 11. I presume once all contracts are signed, we will announce the remainder of the schedule. Hopefully that is relatively soon. Note the MAC game is on a Sunday. The person who indicated there was a Dome conflict on Saturday February 10 was correct. Simple solution was to move that game to Sunday. Note February 10 is Super Bowl Sunday. I bet tipoff is early afternoon. Fine with me as I make it a point to avoid the football pre game hype that day.

I thought travel was supposed to get easier and cheaper by adding our new conference mates. Seems like that didn’t turn out to be the case. Seems like we should think hard about adding 2 more members.

If you believe this league is not more compact than before you need a pair of glasses for near sightedness

I'd like to play App in the Dome.
The neutrals know our respected-rivalry with them in Football.
Good news is that the more hated Football rival - Coastal - will be visiting on Saturday, January 6th, which should pull neutrals as well.
