After following the implosion of the PAC12, I could not help but see the arrogance that sunk the league. Then I thought of El Aye Tech. Same problem.

ULM is a good day to go to Festival or Gulf Brew

I agree. If we could replace ULM with LaTech that would be great. Obviously, kicking ULM out is not ideal.

…….I could be wrong on this but it seems like ULM is rising as Ltur drops…..UL Monroe does have the Pharm and kinda Med school…..not sure about endowment and attendance…..but a better conference although ltur might disagree (hhhhhaaaahhhh)…..but never give ltur a break….why would we?

Chip Kelly is suggesting what I have said for years, I think will ultimately be done with college football and it would totally suck if it happened. But I think there is more momentum behind this then most of us think. This does not mean that, as some have suggested, this won't happen because the P5's need us to fill out a schedule, this means that they will just only play us as a schedule filler, and we will be relegated to a B-Leauge. We, as G5's would have our own championship, but I will guarantee you this, if you think that our attendance sucks now, wait until we are playing for what would be considered the equivalent of a D-1AA or FCS championship.

The only saving grace to this, is that it would basically eliminate all bowl games and I can't see that happening because there is too much money in those games, not in the bowls themselves but TV money.

Now I do think if it were to be handled like the European Soccer and Basketball leagues, where the G5 teams would have a chance to move up from year to year that might make it more interesting. So, if this were to happen, here would be my suggestion:

Each year 8 teams (considered the bottom 8 of the 64 P5 teams) would be relegated to the G5 and vice/versa. If you go up, the top 4 would stay for at least 2 years, each year 4 would be relegated back to the G5, but if you are consistently competing at the P5, there is a chance you could stay. This would allow you to compete on a national level. My thought is this, if the bottom 8 teams are G5 move ups, of then the bottom 4 go down and the other 4 are allowed one extra year, but 4 other teams would move up or something similar.

Teams like Vandy and others would have to figure out how to become better, while teams like Boise and others would do everything they could to stay up. Look this would mean you wouldn't have to be a top 12 team (those that make it to the playoffs), but you better be a top 50 or so team to stay in the mix each year and if you are serious about doing it, you will make sure you are their year in and year out. The top 20 or so G5 teams fan bases would be excited every year and those that don't care about athletics/football would be relegated to the bottom of the G5/P5 ranks as the way it should be. If you are serious you play up, if you don't care you are out.

First, this is all going to fail eventually. America will not support minor league football. They just won't. Also, the TV money Fairy is running out of money. The market has already begun contracting.

For those schools that don't make it into the final, Frankenstein-like, non-collegiate creation, there will always be collegiate, student athlete football.

We will always be in the highest division of collegiate football. This will never change, and I will always be at Cajun Field to watch Louisiana football.

ULM has to decide on its own if it wants to continue. Right now they are just treading water, kicking against the rip tide. That said, it's still better than LaTech's situation. Tech is on the Titanic stubbornly playing the fiddle and refusing to even look outside.

In a sane world Ulm would absorb Tech and take it's name. Tech would sell it's campus to Gambling and put all that money into improving the new University and the rest into endowments. But it'll never be. Politician are more concerned about keeping power than actually making the lives of their constituents better.

The Mountain West would then look to poach C-USA. NMSU, UTEP, and maybe even La Tech.
No MWC school is going to pay a $34 million exit fee to join the Pac#.

That is not being considered in the slightest by anyone of authority in the league. Not worth discussing.

The current theory is that if the PAC4 decide to rebuild, it will be in stages. They have to have at least 6 members next year to keep the autobids. So, they would at least add a couple of AAC schools as they don't have the huge exit fees. Then, the next year, add a handful of MWC schools. Their exit fee is cut in half if they wait a year. There may be some negotiation on who pays that with the PAC.
