We do not need to be in the same conference as tech @ Ruston. Let them die.

There has been some talk of Texas State maybe taking a spot in either the AAC or the MWC depending on how this round of realignment shakes out, and I wouldn't blame them. They want to be with their Texas neighbors. Now, just talking to people on the SBC board, it appears that if we were looking to add a school right now, WKU would probably be top of the list.

WKU is a horrible regional and brand option. We need to reduce travel cost, but no Louisiana Tech. We only want allies.

IF Texas State would bolt, SBC should avoid all FCS move ups and Tech. Wish the mods on the SBC board would quash those whiners, but it is traffic and revenue.

Absolutely no LTech, and don't really want WKU either.

First of all, it’s only $16 million with 1yr notice.

Second, the MWC tv deal is not great. It’s only $4 million/yr per school. If the PAC 4 could convince those top MWC and AAC schools to join, the PAC could probably triple that amount. Add in the increased CFP payout they’d receive by securing their spot as the 5th best conference, and that $16 million isn’t that big of a number anymore.

    Cal
    Stanford
    Oregon St.
    Washington St.
    SDSU
    Boise St.
    Colorado St.
    UNLV
    SMU
    Memphis

This is not a great conference, but it is a hell of a lot better than the conferences these schools currently find themselves in.

Seems like a double.edge sword. On one hand we are always talking about wanting to reduce travel cost but on the other hand the teams that move up to p5 are the ones that spent more total 'budget'

True, but PAC needs schools for 2024 season, making the buyout $33M, if a MWC school wants to join by then.

The smu no fee proposal was an excellent idea, but in the long run couldn't that hurt all g5 moving forward if that becomes the standard...

That's a pretty good conference. Take out smu and Memphis and put Air Force in instead and its a compact group with about the same travel as before. The Mountain can backfill with NM St and UTEP.

With the SEC saying they're not expanding anymore that would then put an end to alignment for while. What it's really saying is the TV executives have spoken. They aren't paying anymore. FSU and SMU can keep trying but they're gonna need a Hail Mary at this point. TV is dead. We've know for a while it was coming. Everything that was done so far was to get GOR shored up but ESPN is not gonna pay 50 million if it's got you already for 20. Like wise they aren't gonna pay you 20 million in acc if they got you for 8 million in the AAC.

If the G5 really wanted to create a best of the rest 24 team Super Conference, this is what it should look like, assuming everyone could drop their egos.

    Oregon St.
    Fresno St.
    SDSU
    Boise St.
    Colorado St.
    Air Force
    SMU

    Georgia Southern
    USF

Stanford and Cal are ready to bolt; they just don't have anywhere to go yet.
