In Locker Room Video Causes Florida A&M Coach to Cancel All Football Related Activities

Florida A&M University football coach Willie Simmons has suspended “all football related activities” after an unauthorized music video was shot inside the locker room, he said Friday on Twitter.

Simmons said the video “contained graphic language that is not consistent with Florida A&M’s core values, principles and beliefs.”

It’s the unauthorized use of university gear that’s the issue. Music, we all know you can hear same/similar at the dome, CF and any similar college venue. Heck, FAMU had this guy perform at their homecoming last year.

It is happening just about everywhere. I’ve heard similar type music at STM football games during warmups before the priest was about to deliver the invocation. I was sitting there thinking I wonder what he thinks of this music.

…and just because curse words are bleeped or mumbled doesn’t excuse the poor chose of music.

Don’t get me wrong, some of my favorite songs contain curse words, but there is a time and place.

Like the people (students) that listen to said music don’t know what’s being bleeped out.

I’ll give Vic credit to the point God is everywhere. AFA the priest hearing the offensive language, God’s giving him a teachable moment, from the kids to the adults that signed off on it.

People of faith live with the ever present dilemma of being human…we still mess up. Don’t put an easy mark on oneself. You can be pretty sure an opposing fan pointed out the hypocrisy of a catholic school and the music to others with the ever easy “and they call themselves Christians”.

Wish UL would use that kind of teachable moment with ALL our players. Be leaders, not sheep.

I know at STM it was often times the athletes who provided the music. They would just plug in one of their phones to the sound system with a playlist they had. Every once and a while they end up with something that shouldn't be in there. Intentional or not there were usually consequences for it. At least that was my experience.
