Same as last year, Gulf Brew schedules their event the same day as a UL home football game. October 21st.

Gulf Brew is 1-5PM…
Look, it’s “festival season” around that time, I guess. But you’d think the festivals or big events that are IN Lafayette and the university would work together on this, especially for homecoming weekend.
I would think the university should take the initiative to reach out. Beau, you’re the one on here whom I truly believe is actually “in the know”. Do we know if university leaders have reached out to try to coordinate opposite weekends?
Even if it just can’t happen when we’re playing away, at least a non-homecoming game?
Just one man here. Gulf Brew has never interfered with my tailgating or football. Heck if the Cajuns had an open date I’m sure I could a better game on TV than Gulf Brew.
This is why we can't put 40k in Cajun Field. Lafayette/Acadiana has plenty of entertainment to compete against. We're used to having fun. Why not move Gulf Brew to Cajun Field? I would think celebrating beer at a tailgate is a win-win.
There’s plenty of people who don’t want to go to Gulf Brew to fill Cajun Field three times over. Same on most things. IMO Lafayette metropolitan has too many people from outside the metropolitan area compared to 50 years ago. Many are non Louisiana natives. Too much free football, and nearly free. Most of the population doesn’t see us as relevant since the advent of generally agreed champions beginning at the start of BCS to the current system. Lack of bowl attendance supports this hypothesis.
Finally the poor marketing of the product in an antiquated stadium. Generally I don’t blame local competitors.
I guess i better make my hotel reservations now or I won't be able to stay downtown that weekend
Gulf Brew is put on by Acadiana Center for the Arts (which is downtown) and the festival is enhanced by a working relationship with downtown development authority. A board and leadership team that care about downtown first and foremost, the same way we care about UL first and foremost.
I doubt any DT folks will be worried about Cajun Field after being rebuffed by the performing arts center location.
Best we can do this year is toss up some signage downtown reminding people of homecoming that night. I remember last year they advertised a showing of TSAB game at ACA with VIP tickets lol.
I selfishly hope UL pushes the start time back to 6, because I really do enjoy Gulf Brew.
