Since those boys over in Lake Chuck love calling schools by their old names why don't they use it for that Mississippi school? Or is Mississippi Industrial Institute and College for the Education of White Girls to long of a name. Lol. I didn't make that up, that's it's original name.
Oh and if y'all think I'd be fun going to an almost all girl school. I once dated and almost married a girl that went to an all girls college. A horse school in Frankfurt, KY. Most of the women there are happy there are no men there if ya know what I mean.
Their branding seems to have almost no reference to "women" and little even to Mississippi. Lokks pretty nice though, they emphasize being "the W" and using that w to spell WIN, and they are called the owls
The name was changed to Mississippi State College for Women in 1920. At the time Mississippi State was just men, and MSCW provided lots of dates and subsequently wives for students at Mississippi State. I have a few family members who are MSCW grads. Though it was never part of Mississippi State, the general public assumed it was; largely because of the single sex nature of both schools and the proximity of Starkville to Columbus.
As an additional aside, Columbus would be a pretty nice place to go to college, particularly for women, especially because of Columbus Air Force Base. It also happens to be a very good party town which attracts lots of weekend male visitors from MSU [26 mi] and Alabama [59 mi], both easy drives from Columbus.
