Probably best to not share the conference of our potential buy game opponents yet. One, I am not certain of the leagues yet. Two, situation is fluid. Potential opponents could change. I am just happy we are buying D1 home games. That has not happened since before the pandemic. We could still have some non D1 opponents. It may be as few as one but it definitely will not be more than 2. Last season we had 3 of them and many SBC schools played 4.

#3--Wright State in a neutral site game

#5--Either Iona, High Point, LBSU or Illinois State in a Neutral site game.

At the end of the day, when very few teams will travel to Lafayette to play you, you need to find a way to get at least mid major matchups. This is what we are working towards. I would assume we will have at least 1 or 2 P5 road matchups and then probably a local in state school playing us. I know we have Tech and McNeese on the schedule as well, I think on the road. Marlin is trying to build a decent OOC schedule. I know it is not perfect, but I don't see other ways of doing this if you can't get teams to come to you.
We will play a home game vs a MAC school. That game will be on Saturday February 10 which is on Mardi Gras weekend. That is the only non conference home game which is official at this time. We are not one of the 2 SBC teams not participating in the MAC challenge. Not sure which 2 are out of this deal. If the 2 games we are trying to buy deal is finalized, that will give us 12 D1 home games. Goal is to play 13. I think we will add another and have one non D1 game. We do go to LA Tech and McNeese. We also owe Samford a return visit. That may occur in 24-25.

Why not have the tournament on Thursday through sun?

I'm confused. Does "We are not one of the teams not participating" mean that we are participating?
Also, it's disappointing to go to Ruston and Lake Chuck. It would be great to the the reception that little punk Will Wade would get if they came here.

We are definitely participating in the SBC vs MAC challenge. We go to Toledo on November 11 and a MAC opponent will come here on February 10. Home opponent will be determined in late January. How teams are doing at that point will be a factor in lining up the opponents. We are going to Ruston because Bulldogs came here last season. We are going to Lake Charles again as they came here for 2 consecutive years. No guarantee Will Wade led McNeese team will ever play in the Dome. Contract ends after game this season. That game is in Lake Charles. I seem to recall seeing date of game is December 13. That may have come from someone listing McNeese non conference schedule on Twitter. I don’t know if Wade will have completed his 10 game suspension by then. I can tell you people on our staff are saying it makes absolutely no difference to them if he coaches that game or not. McNeese will probably try to set up their schedule so as it is the first game he is eligible to coach.

WW will be back for the USM and UL games per McLeast FB page.

Nothing would be sweeter than popping that bubble.

I am hearing we may not get a home game for the SBC MAC challenge due to scheduling conflicts at the Cajundome. Would Blackham be an option?

That’s the real problem with the Cajun Dome. Consistently unavailable for Cajun basketball due to other demands.
