The ONLY drawback I see is a fear of work.
We struggle to make schedules today. I don’t think people would be knocking down our door to schedule 12 football games, 50+ softball and baseball games, 30+ men’s and women’s basketball games, 20+ men’s and women’s tennis matchups, etc etc. the cost would be outrageous.

You don't do all that in one day.
Those numbers are really not that much over a years time.

UL did not have problems scheduling softball games before the SBC added softball.

Why did they not have problems?

Because every school in, America knew Louisiana played a tough schedule and they had a lot to gain by playing them.

Not once did I ever hear "it's expensive to schedule softball."

Okay take softball out of the equation. Do you really think we could schedule 50+ good baseball game much less competitive series when everyone else is having conference weekends. What about basketball. We birch about our OOC scheduled when we have to schedule 13 games. Try 30. And most teams once conference play starts plays zero none conference games in most sports because of the timing of games. Who would schedule us in tennis, basketball baseball and football much less volleyball and soccer when they are in the heart of conference play. It was easier when conferences did not dictate your schedule after the “non conference” play was over. Now that is nearly impossible

I am of the opinion that if teams learn you play a tough schedule and they can get an RPI boost by playing you they will make room.

Just like a coach can instantly find thousands of players who entered the portal, a designated Scheduler who saves the links can instantly find opening in all sports for the next year (which he or she should Never have to use) as well as openings years down the road.

This isn't 1997 when Nelson had to call every school one by one wondering.

Today, you only call who you "know" has an opening.

    . . . who has an opening once conference play begins . . . that’s 8 or 9 out of twelve weekends of the season . ..

    I'm coming around

A few years ago I undertook a project and found plenty of openings during conference play.

In my search tonight, I can't.

The recent advent of Super Conferences negates my stance

It's to late to make the move I know would have made Louisiana first choice on conference expansion.

I said this once and I’ll say it again…. The Cajuns Athletic department or the SBC needs to get involved with the Saudi PIF and infuse that money into college athletics… we have a brand and the SBC has a good product right now. If you don’t think the Saudi PIF is looking for a way into American Football then you have your head buried in the sand…. They won’t have big conferences letting them in right now, but a G-5 conference could offer a very good opportunity to make money. Money ultimately wins in the end and I don’t care what political side of the isle you fall on.
