Many good points, but it’s also important to note, and recall that the same law that allowed LSUNO to become UNO was never deemed illegitimate thus unequal application of the law. A law that was created by the Louisiana Supreme Court, not the legislature. When I was in claims the overriding concern about cases was to be willing to settle and avoid new law possibly being created by a judge.

Don’t forget the way polytechnical, Lake Charles jr college and ouachita parish jr college changed its names also. According to an article on RR twitter written back then it was a 60 something to 30 something vote by the legislature that passed the law that reversed the initial name change. When appealed the judge was a lsuam grad and he wouldn’t recuse himself from the case.

Bottom line is their fan base [who I despise as well] knows that UL will never be LSU.

So why do they care?

And anything that doesn't bow to the purple and gold, or worse anything that dares to elevate anything NOT purple and gold is blasphemy.

The LSU guy is a clown. However, it's not hard to "maul" the UL zealots that hang out on RP, many of which are delusional. MAT not only got mauled, but his "short man's syndrome" made him look even worse.

Why not offer the first fig leaf?

Why not go to Tiger Droppings and start a thread about how most Louisiana (not ULL) fans are actually realistic and really only want to blaze their own trail. No intentions of usurping LSU's role as the state flagship. Just want to be able to make Louisiana (not ULL) the best academic and athletic institution it can be.

I would love the opportunity MAT had. First of all if I am there to speak about UL branding every time he brings up lsu and national championships just say congratulations but that has nothing to do with UL and its branding. We don’t have to brand according to lsu’s success. I would not have let him use any thing lsu has done to be a reason for UL branding. You are the largest in the lsu system we are the largest in the UL system. There for lsu and UL.

“Why are you not ULL.” Very simple on the very night the name was announced in the Cajun Dome Dr Authement said 2 things we will never go by are ULL and Lafayette. We have never gone by ULL never will. Now tell me what does an Italian boy who went to SLU know better that the president of the university.

In 1983 my sister in law received a degree with University of Louisiana on it. A name Change that took place with a 17-1 vote by the UL board, the same way every name change of every school has been done before, in the history of our state. It was only because of a corrupt bunch of La politicians a law was made in retrospectively in order to reverse that name back then in the 80s.

Just a brief synopsis. I could own that loud mouth Italian in that debate.
