SMU aiming to move to the Pac 12.

IMHO, I think this is what is prompting this new round of reorgs.

No doubt. How big will the PAC remnants want to get in response to being raided again? I'm thinking that the TV money won't be enough for them to consider going past the Rocky Mountains.

Once the dust settles out west, then, it will be our time to move on the 4 schools I mentioned

First I'm adding Memphis who is investing heavily in athletics and just hired Matt Riser as head coach for baseball.

That would line up the Sun Belt West as:

ULM
Troy
Arkansas State
Memphis
Southern Miss
Texas State

Second, I'm looking at Florida and the top of the list is USF. That would line up the Sun Belt East as:
JMU
ODU
Marshall
App State
Ga State
Ga Southern
Coastal
USF

I'm not even giving a school like Tulsa a chance because they don't have a baseball program. No FCS call ups unless their budget is at least middle of the pack in the Sun Belt.

If we drop ULM and Texas State, the next two for the west I would add are Rice & UTSA.

Memphis and USF do not fit into the makeup of the SBC. Yes they are in the footprint, but the large metro area doesn’t fit the cultural makeup.

Culture? We share much more culturally with Dallas, Memphis and NOLA than we will ever do with any school further east.

Fully agree. AAC only needed to reload with UAB, FAU, & Louisiana then call it a day. They grossly watered down their conference. As for SBC, 14 is plenty of teams. Actually 12 is enough. But it was explained there was no loss of media revenue taking in the Virginia schools- ODU and JMU plus both have a lot of moolah, so understandable.

No south Al? They are a young football program that is getting better every year. And their diamond sports are always strong.

I’m sorry but not Tulane New Orleans bowl was in their own backyard and the Cajuns outnumbered them by a lot. Big city with no fan base the other really don’t know about then
