Why would UAB be a cultural fit and not Memphis?

Fully agree. AAC only needed to reload with UAB, FAU, & Louisiana then call it a day. They grossly watered down their conference. As for SBC, 14 is plenty of teams. Actually 12 is enough. But it was explained there was no loss of media revenue taking in the Virginia schools- ODU and JMU plus both have a lot of moolah, so understandable.

    Troy
    Arkansas State
    Memphis
    Southern Miss
    Texas State

Second, I'm looking at Florida and the top of the list is USF. That would line up the Sun Belt East as:
    JMU
    ODU
    Marshall
    App State
    Ga State
    Ga Southern
    Coastal
    USF

I'm not even giving a school like Tulsa a chance because they don't have a baseball program. No FCS call ups unless their budget is at least middle of the pack in the Sun Belt.

If we drop ULM and Texas State, the next two for the west I would add are Rice & UTSA.
No south Al? They are a young football program that is getting better every year. And their diamond sports are always strong.

I’m sorry but not Tulane New Orleans bowl was in their own backyard and the Cajuns outnumbered them by a lot. Big city with no fan base the other really don’t know about then

IMHO, I think this is what is prompting this new round of reorgs.
You mean the PAC10, or 8 maybe.

    Drop ULMost add UTSA.
We get to dump our biggest pain in the neck and compete in Texas, a vital part of our recruiting footprint, home and away every year.

I doubt very seriously any of the current discussed teams would even consider a move currently to the SBC, but if the SBC decided to increase to 16 or even 18, what are your guys thoughts, in a perfect world and be realistic about this. I am talking about any current G5 team and or teams that you would consider if the SBC increased to either 16 or 18.

    Realistic options would include:

WKU, Middle Tennessee, La Tech, Memphis, UAB, USF, Tulane, UAB, Liberty, Rice, Charlotte, FAU, UNT, UTSA, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, NMSU, Sam Houston, ECU, SMU, Tulsa, football playing members of the Big South (Charleston Southern/Gardner Webb), football playing members of the CAA (Campbell, Elon, Hampton, NC A&T, William and Mary and Towson), FIU, UTEP, Football playing members of the Southern Confernce (Chattanooga, ETSU, Furman, Mercer, Samford, The Citadel, VMI, Western Carolina or Wofford), Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, SLU, Texas A&M Commerce, any member of the SWAC (Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Bethune Cookman, FAMU, Grambling, Jackson State, MVSU, Southern, Texas Southern, UAPB, Abeline Christian, SFA, Tarleton State, UTRGV, Richmond, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, EKU, UNA, Tennessee State and/or UT Martin.

I think I named all potential geographically appropriate teams, both current G5 and/or FCS call ups (and I know that many of these have no shot and with the changing landscape and financial costs to move up it is probably not going to happen), but I wanted to give you guys all potential possibilities.

This would, of course, also include dropping of current SBC teams if need be. The canvas is yours, build your perfect conference with the teams listed above anywhere between 12 - 20 teams, you make the call.

    GEAUX.........
    NEVER LA TECH,
THEY BURNT SO MANY BRIDGES WITH THE SUNBELT.
Once they get in they will get on higher than mighty cloud and try and start dictating policy.
    I say “NEVER LA TECH”

La Tech laid that bed and should forever lay in it . . . we should play them, but in out of conference games . . .

Missed them on accident. With them it's 8 teams per division.

ULM athletics has been on life support for a decade. They excel in no sports. That said I enjoy them as an instate foe. Their fans have nothing in common with the LTURds. If SBC pulls the life support plug it'll be bittersweet. Sucks but it may end up being a good thing for ULM long term being back in FCS.
