Thread: Basketball is dead

  1. Default Re: Basketball is dead

    I said 7,000 attended one game . . . I never said Louisiana only had 7000 fans . . . those two things are not remotely the same . . .

I asked if you were calling the 20 or so who post here the fan base. I never said only 20 participate here . . . those two things are not remotely the same

As I also said, you are the master at word mining, however what you produce from is usually far from what you eventually mine . . .

    CASE IN POINT . . .

You made that number the anchor of your response to CajunExpress' post on bonds.

By saying how 7000 fans couldn't bond much you are putting a cap on available contributers, and shrinking the fan base to 7,000.

again, I never said that . . . what I said was that the bonding commission would have to deal with that number . . . Your word mining is now despicable

You are right, you limited it to posters.

I said participants, because to me after 21 years I view posters as participating.

I view the silent majority as fans and supporters of Louisiana and RP to a lesser extent.

They crave Louisiana Ragin Cajuns news and RP is where the water cooler conversation gets corrected .... eventually.

NCAA or Bust is partially correct. Basketball is almost dead; it has come to resemble track and field. Few understand or appreciate T&F, and even fewer show up to watch.

The NBA? Stick a fork in it. The last time I watched an NBA game, Larry Bird was playing. UL mens basketball has been on life support for years. Save for a handful of posters on this forum, nobody cares. I haven't been to a UL basketball game in at least four years, and most posters here have stayed away longer.

Cajun fans have stated their preferences with their feet. They will watch football games on ESPN+... maybe. It might be possible to save football.

Louisiana fans are not interested in basketball. Hire the best coach, pay him the highest salary; it won't matter. The ship has sailed. The audience is not coming back.

More than that. I think he was at $600K-$650K per year. You may wanna check your numbers. It was above $500,000K per year for sure. Think about that. Ridiculous.

Highest paid coach in Da Belt!

    Attendance:
ODU men have averaged 5,575 per game, well ahead of No. 2 Marshall (4,515), No. 3 James Madison (4,008) and No. 4 Southern Miss (3,247). And if you didn't notice, the four leaders are all newcomers to the Sun Belt, which means that expansion did a ton to help league attendance.

$642K. Let that sink in for what this guy has accomplished in 13 seasons. It's like what does one have to do to get run off around here. Embarrassing.
