For Bruce Brown, the world’s view of the biggest thing out there was never a guiding light for him.

So when it came to selecting which college he would attend, the 1971 graduate of Ben Franklin High in New Orleans didn’t do what was expected of him.

His father Max, mother Dorothy and older brother Max all went to LSU.

I have his book. I had forgot about it until you mentioned it. I’ll have to take it off the shelf and reread it.

His Sunday column in the Advertiser during the 70s and 80s was always a must read for me after the comics.

He had a way of advocating without being agitating.

I was a part time staffer for them for a couple of years. The sports staff at the Advertiser was loaded with talent. Bruce, Foote, Jonas Breaux, Pete McEntegert (later with Sports Illustrated), David Friedlander... our local sports coverage was insanely good.
