Thread: Devron Williams

  1. UL Football Devron Williams

This could be a nice pickup for the Cajuns. 6'4" 290 lb Offensive lineman from Aledo, Texas. Offers from UTSA, Arizona State, Arkansas State, La Tech, Memphis, UNT, Sam Houston, Texas State, Utah State, Wyoming and Austin Peay. He is down to just UTSA and UL and will be making his decision on 7/14 at noon. Aledo, Texas is outside of Fort Worth, TX, so it is still 4 plus hours from San Antonio, while it would be around 6 hours from Lafayette, so proximity is not a huge determining factor for him. This would be one of those big uglies that we would like to get. He is listed as an interior lineman, probably with that size we are looking at a Guard, rather than center. As a Junior he was first team all district. In HS he lined up mostly at LG and looks big and powerful and fairly athletic for his size, he seems to stay engaged throughout the plays and can block at the first and second level. I have attached his Junior Hudl highlights from texasfootball.com. He goes by DJay and I would really like to see him in the Vermillion and White.

He comes from a pretty solid HS football team, Aledo High School was ranked as the #75 team in the nation, #6 team in Texas, number 1 in Division 5A, Number 2 in Region 1 and #4 in the Dallas metro area.

Looks like Hunt is helping recruit him on Twitter.
    This is OL University!

Well here is his connection with the Cajuns......And it is a good one, this is his BIG brother.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Williams and Williams combo on the OL.

Not bad company to be in, his final 5 were UL, UTSA, UNT, Memphis and Arizona State. He then cut that down to just UTSA and UL for his final 2.

So let it be written, so let it be done. I hope you are correct, hopefully Robert Hunt and Quinton Williams are the difference makers for us.

That would be cool to have brothers on the OL again, like the Quaves

Coach Dez stated that Quinton was one of the biggest improvements from year over year that he has noticed this summer. He also named Dre'lyn Washington and Tyree Skipper amongst a few others. But he specifically said that Quinton Williams was one of the most improved players from last year to this year.
