. . . if your seat has not been hot over the past few weeks . . . you’ve just not been around . . .
When Marlin gets 20 years of contributions into the state retirement system he will get the equivalent of about 40 percent of his salary. There is no "full retirement" for educators in this state. By the way, when he draws his 40 percent, he will get taxed at a rate of about 30 percent. He might get $0 in social security because he probably does not contribute.
. . . he worked 20 years in Missouri . . . Might have gotten his SS quarters there . . .
To clarify, only the state’s portion is counted toward retirement benefits. The RCAF part usually gets invested.
Google is your friend. Here’s the Social Security off set explained. Most government retirees don’t get SS, only those who qualified back around 1983(?) aren’t penalized.

Really sucks when some pay as legally required into SS, meet the time parameters and cannot collect. I’ll stop here, don’t want to south of the boarder on the glaring inequalities…
Not disputing anything posted...from Google...Most Louisiana state public employees, who may be covered by LASERS, LSERS, TRSL, or other public employee retirement plans, don’t pay into the Social Security system. This means their ability to receive Social Security benefits is different from typical employment where the employee pays Social Security taxes.
My point is that you will make more in retirement than most UL coaches, including Coach Marlin. I am grateful because you protected my freedom. Thank you for your service!
Since the post season FBS rules were modified to slot the top ranked G5 in a NY6 bowl, several G5 teams have beaten P5 teams. When Louisiana or any other G5 makes the 12 team CFB Playoff, there's a decent chance of winning the first game.
It's time consuming, but we need our head coaches to barn storm the region in person and on media to rally more fan support/ticket sales. Consumers like being asked for their business. Put that in every coaches contract= more community outreach. Can't keep doing things the same ole way and expect improved ticket sales results.
As for Coach Marlin, last year was put up or shut up time. He and his team got it done and we cheered them on. However, based upon history, there's no illusion Coach Marlin is building a top flight program capable of more frequent NCAA tourneys and even making March magic sweet 16 NCAA run. If this were the case Coach would have been poached from us years ago. So we have the program and basketball fanbase we have today.
