That pop country crap these days is pretty bad. 97.3 The Dawg is great with the CCSN LA from 6 to Midnight every Saturday, then they play pretty much garbage the other 162 hours of the week.

Freedom 95.1 is good. It's the same station out of either Rayne or Crowley that was 106.7. KBON 101.1 will play some good country mixed in with their various Cajun, zydeco and swamp pop, even with some new artists that are actually good country music.

The new(ish) artists I find to be good, many of which are local, are:

    Freddie Pate
    Blaine Roy
    Dustin Gaspard
    Dustin Sonnier
    Jared Layne
    Frank Foster
    Creed Fisher
    Wade Reeves
    Kylie Frey

I am currently into acoustic music, especially women who do Texas Fiddle or Western Swing [Quebe Sisters, Purple Hulls] or old school jazz as Western Swing [Quebe Sisters] or Bluegrass [Sierra Hull]

The bro country sounds have definitely taken a turn for the worse in my book. You could say in music, beauty is in the ears of the beholder. IMO, Eric Church's music is pretty rich. Agree, Zach Bryan has it going. Taylor Sheridan featuring his music on Yellowstone was first time I heard Bryan. Last season began showcasing Louisiana native singer Lainey Wilson.

I am in your boat. I always say they quit making country music in the 90s. My kids introduced me to Riley Green last year. He is pretty good and former QB at Jacksonville St in Al.

IMO as a FAN country music is in a golden age right now. Doesn’t matter which era or style is your favorite. It’s out there being made right now, and most of it is not just cheap imitations of the past. My curiosity is how good of an era it is for the artists, which would determine if this continues. The stuff being pumped out of Nashville is homogenized slop. Rap is the dominant genre today, so country execs have glommed on to that. If that stuff has the machine behind it, how well do the people making the real stuff do? There are some definite success stories with Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, and Zach Bryan selling large venues with no help from Nashville.

If you are a fan of old school country, you should like Sunny Sweeney and Ashley McBryde.
