I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but now with NIL and everything else more "legal" than ever in college sports, especially football, this guy very well could be headed elsewhere should he have a huge senior year.

Commitments in June are always nice. It gives your program recruiting momentum and good press. But you are correct, commitments aren't binding and August is a long way from December signing period.

It's common to see commitments from the skilled positions early for the Cajuns because DL/OL are premium and hard to get commitments early because of the interest from other programs. They are usually the most volatile commitments.
