This is true, but when you take a 13 win team one year to a 500 ball club the next with a ton of returning players, you better have some Ben Franklin, Davey Crokett, Yogi Berra home spun wisdom to rally the community with.
FYI. There were nearly 50 people who was on the rooster the year before Des took over that wasn’t there last year. 50 out of 85 scholarships. You do the math.

I am not saying that I am against Des. I wish him the best and hope he becomes the winningest coach in Cajuns history with a long career here like Robichaux. But his contract doesn’t suggest he was a budget hire. He makes a salary of 775K. That is right in there with other first year coaches in the belt. I think it was right where Napier was in his first year also.

This is like two boats passing in the night.

People here still wanted us to hire some other high powered coach. My question is, who, how much and where is the money going to come from. Nobody has answered any of this.

For the 50th time, I believe CMD was the right hire . . . I believe he is fairly paid . . . And I don’t believe any of this should in any way diminish the hire, the hire’s ability or his reputation.

Anything said otherwise is owned by he or she who says it. It’s not mine.

If UL was high on a certain coach and said coach wanted 1.5, 2 mill a year the university could have paid that. Part, not all but part of the reason Dez was hired is they were able to get him so cheap compared to what Napier was making so don't kid yourself, UL could have easily doubled that salary if they wanted to hire a bigger name. I know this because Napier was making 2 mil a year and was going to make 3 mil had he stayed so obviously if the university could come up with 3 mil, they could have come up with 1.5...as for who would have been available that's hard to say without doing a national search. But Dez was hired in part because of Napier's recommendation so we shall see how that pans out.

Des first year salary is right in line with where Napier was year one. Mike too will have an opportunity to earn more with success.

Correct. Me, you and a few others have said this over and over again.

Napier wasn't hired for $1.2 Million. His salary was almost exactly what Desormeaux's is today when hired. Neither coach came here with HC experience, although Napier was a OC at Clemson and Arizona. He was canned at Clemson as a OC.

Des was hired in part because of Napiers, Rob Sale and a few other's recommendations. Billy Napier's being the most prominent of that group.

Yep. Will be curious to see that as well.

This implies the majority do not approve, which is a blatantly misleading innuendo.
