But this doesn't mean that the NCAA is not investigating him? I mean, how can they not when he is on tape talking about bribes he made? Even if the bribe was not taken, does not make it less a violation of NCAA rules.
As far as the NCAA is concerned those alleged tapes don’t exist unless they actually become evidence.
There’s nothing that can happen. That’s not a P5 or a G5 thing.
Exactly, which is why LaSue, as well as most P5 schools, never even get a slap on the hand, let alone any serious penalties. Where is the justice in that? But believe me, even if those alleged tapes didn't exist, which everyone has heard, a G5 school would receive a death penalty for the same offense.
I don’t believe that.
Coach Nape better not hand out any t-shirts. He'll lose scholarships and banned from post season.
Keep in mind this is an FBI case in federal court. They don't play around. Nobody is buying off anything at this level and Wade was just supposed to testify. It isn't uncommon for deals to be made as a trial nears. I'm sure that is exactly what has happened and as such his testimony isn't needed. Now that doesn't mean that they couldn't come after him directly and they might just do that.
As far as why Wade was reinstated... That appears to be nothing but a legal issue. He was suspended for refusing to meet with his boss. Now that he has meet with his boss he has "fulfilled his contractual requirement". Doesn't mean that LSU won't turn around and terminate him for cause. I'm pretty certain that is exactly what is going to happen.
The NCAA is just getting started and were present at the meeting between Wade and LSU. While it isn't a court of law the NCAA carries a big stick and refusing to cooperate with an investigation will get you tossed out of college coaching in a hurry.
I agree, and should add hope, with both of your bottom-line assessments.
Willy has only been reinstated because he met with the admin, fulfilling that aspect of his contract. Alleva's statement after that meeting was hardly an endorsement of Willy, though, as he made a point of stating that he denied any wrong doing, and lsu didn't have the evidence to prove otherwise.....at this time.
But Willy had also denied wrong doing back in Oct, and had told them that there was nothing more to come out about the issue, which was clearly a lie.....there is your cause to fire right there.
The unknown now to me is how the new AD will handle it....will he do the right thing and fire him, knowing how much that will upset the fan base? We shall see. But the bottom line is I don't think he'll really have an option as all the facts continue to come out.
Some of you all are giving Louisiana State U way too much credit in expecting them to do the right thing.
