Even after every 12 game schedule is full, there are still 420 open dates out there.
With 4 OOC games to be filled and the 3 open dates each school has (15 week season) there are almost 980 game spots on the table.
Filling 12 quality games is easy in the digital age.
First of all, every AD I've ever heard, talks about the difficulties of filling a schedule, with built in conference games and, it's not that easy. Hell ND made a deal with the ACC because they were having a hard time scheduling. Most conferences play non conference then a steady slate if conference games. The sec is one of the only, if not the only conference with the November non conference. You would very seldom play the same teams multiple years in a row under your way, therefore no rivalries will ever be borne. The only time you'd be on TV is on the road as part of some schools conference deal. And last but not least if independent was a good option you'd see more people doing it. It just has no benefits.
"The contract includes a $1 million buyout that LSU will pay or has paid to VCU. The school will also pay VCU $250,000 if the programs don't agree on a home-and-home series — something that was in Wade's VCU contract. Wade's deal with the Tigers runs to June 30, 2023."
Well, of course, the MVC would be the first choice, maybe even the Horizon, but the most likely takers for our non-football, non diamond sports would be the SLC or the ASUN. Both of those really have very little difference in quality in basketball than the SBC. It's a wash.
Independence would be a temporary situation.
Independence is a "separation" tool.
Independence creates a stepping stone that would make Louisiana a first mention candidate for every conference movement discussion.
All that advertising will make Louisiana everyone's first choice.
It seems like we have been saying for couple years now that Sun Belt May be better than CUSA...but perception is everything...when will everyone quit with the perception crap and start defending where we are...it will never change if everyone just keeps “rolling with the punches”....
