SDSU leaves 6/30 or before 17 mil exit fees. After 6/30, it doubles (34 mil). PAC 12 not ready to make offer until after 6/30. Maybe the existing/remaining PAC12 teams want to squeeze SDSU financially? And if SDSU goes independent for a year, at what cost?

Funniest thing I read was some guy thinks the Chargers leaving SD was the best thing that could have happen. It’s never good to lose a major sports franchise.

They remnants grab the WAC football teams for logistical purposes. Texas State would probably be the only one tempted to go west.

This is what the WAC/A-Sun and McLeast group has been banking on.

With the egos of the AAC and MWC bruised, wouldn’t be surprised they join forces, 2 divisions. SBC needs to stay pat.

They need to develope a point system. Academics, research Tier 1, team gpa's, size of arenas, posts season appearances, market, budget (excluding conf payouts and student fees) etc. Use those points to keep a running list of top overall schools. And when an opening exists in a conference the list has to be utilized I stead of back room deals. And those already in the "higher" conference needs to maintain their points, if they drop significantly and for a certain period of time they should be replaced

I have to feel they are pretty confident that they are going to get that invite. P12 is in real trouble unless they do something quickly, similar to the Big 12, who had to do something as well. There is a very good chance the P12 gets picked again and SDSU makes logical sense because of the market and their overall success, but most importantly because they pick up the area that the P12 has already lost in Southern California. I wouldn't at all be surprised if another MWC team looks to make the jump as well, although I would not be surprised to see the Aztecs in the B12 either. Either way, the P12 could be in a world of hurt, which also means the MWC could be in a world of hurt as well.

The question becomes who does the MWC and P12 go after, with all of the trickle down effects happening after that. The reality is that the everyone will be jockeying for positions including some members of CDOA, do not be surprised if more established teams in the CDOA like WKU, Middle, La Tech and even NMSU make a push to find themselves as a logical team for the MWC, even though with the exception of NMSU none of them make sense, but I could see a situation where all of them want out of the CDOA. And of course, everyone in the MWC would be a target for the B12 and P12.

All I can say is that at least the SBC is pretty solid right now and makes geographical and logical sense as a conference, but one small change could disrupt everything in the Belt as well. If one team, decides to bolt, I could see all hell breaking loose.

PAC 12 has no interest in CUSA schools. Want big market schools in Houston, Dallas & San Antonio, ie. SMU, N Texas, UTSA and Rice. Maybe even Tulsa and Memphis allowing expansion into Central Time Zone, especially if they lose schools to the Big 12. And, there are other schools in the MWC they can poach. Will be interesting to see what the MWC does if they lose several schools. MWC should really consider UTEP and NMSU to keep a western footprint in a G5 conference. They won't pay enough to lure teams from the Central Time Zone.

WAC wants to be a Football FBS conference again. They have made it known loud and clear.

P5 and G5 will not be a thing anymore in 2024 with the new playoff format. It’s the highest ranked 6 conference champs that get an auto bid.
