There's absolutely nothing wrong with what Caelan wrote. It's an analysis of what he saw. As long as his analysis is fact-based, he's good. Whether you agree with his analysis is another issue altogether.
Journalists covering a sports team have no obligation to be "cheerleaders" for those teams. A sportscaster/announcer hired by the team or school is the lone exception to that rule, and even then, there's a fine line in terms of how much homerism a team broadcaster should included (see Harrelson, Hawk, and Graf___nini, Todd).
