Fun fact: odu stadium is less than 7 miles from the beach while the covid chants are more than 12 miles away
Y'all talking about RW&B stomping grounds...
I can confirm that the "locals" pronounce it the way that was alluded to, however I have never seen or heard anyone ever get upset if it was not pronounced that way. And when I say locals, it may be more accurate to say just local old timers.
Also it does not appear that they have any space to tailgate outside their stadium, yet I have also not heard anyone get upset about that either
P.s. My plantar fasciatis prevents me from stomping.
I spent 5 years in Virgina, traveling about 50% of my time in the Va Beach, Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton Roads and Portsmouth areas and I can tell you many people got upset if you called it Nor(folk) or Nor(fork), mostly in a joking way, but it is absolutely pronounced Nor (____) and there are locals whom do not like it called anything else.
Again, not as many as those in Boone, who will correct you, rather vigorously if you pronounce App States name incorrectly. I remember my first few weeks in Wilkesboro, NC , which is about 30 minutes from Boone and I met a guy who worked for Lowes (that is where the old Lowe's Corporate office was) and I said, that is cool, you graduated from App (a-Lach-En) State and he looked at me and said yes, and it is pronounced App (a-latch-en) State, please get it right.
Those in Norfolk, when you pronounce it wrong, will mostly laugh and say it is ____ not Folk or Fork.
There is no bus for the school paper. If you would like, I will link the following Twitter post explaining what I will be doing for the away games and how I will use the money:
