Pretty sure the FEMA money was used to repair damages after using it as a shelter for about 20000 folks following Katrina. That repair work was about 2.7 million. The last big upgrade of $20 million was about 2016 and was paid for by bonds thru the Ragin Cajun Facilities.
Any coincidence football tweeted season ticket holders are getting priority seat choice in “the improved Venue?”
Does this mean TAF doesn't give back to academics anymore
UL faired well in this session. Of course, almost everyone else did also. Legislatures were spending one time money like drunken sailors. A lot of funding is in Priority 5 so we'll have to see if makes it through future sessions. Also, HB1/2 may be overspent so bond commission may have something to say. Here is what UL was allocated (apologize for lack of formatting):

I’ll check tomorrow to see who got what. Many of you would be embarrassed to see what’s in these bills. It’s funny that the Youngsville Sports Complex brags about how much money they have & says they have to dream up things to spend it all BUT they’re getting $1M in HB560. Lafayette Parks & Rec is getting $1.5M. Nobody is better at buying votes than Page Cortez.
It may be a good thing NIRC is listed that way. Don’t need the “why not us” crowd or State getting the Joneses over this. Need to keep growing on the R1 front until that genie is too big to stick back in the bottle or take it away.
Federal money is the greatest budget balancing tool Louisiana has.
I look forward to earth shattering growth and advancements coming from UL research that one day makes the world make such acclimations we can no longer be ignored. May not happen in my earthly time, but it’s there for the taking.
Go a few years without any emergency/disaster funding, watch what happens.
Louisiana government finally got called out by the feds on Katrina/Rita money, which was why Lake Charles had trouble getting money in 2020; the state wasn’t requiring payback of misappropriated funds like they were suppose to. The feds may be slow in auditing, but they get there eventually. That’s why I beat the drum about LCG’s legislative audit findings. It’s federal money and it will get recouped.
