BATON ROUGE—The Acadia Parish School Board may exclude butane or propane used in farm grain dryers by rice farmers from its sales and use tax, according to a legal opinion issued by the Louisiana Attorney General’s office.
The opinion, authored by Assistant Attorney General Benjamin A. Huxen, II, was provided at the request of school board attorney Gerald Caswell of Eunice. Besides citing state statute, Huxen also called on the Random House Unabridged Dictionary to research his legal opinion.
