  1. Track & Field 4x100 Relay Team Breaks 51-Year-Old School Record in National Semifinals

    The previous record, set in 1972, was the third longest-standing record on the men's side

    AUSTIN, Tx. – The Louisiana men's 4x100-meter relay broke a school record that had stood since 1972 at the NCAA national semifinals at Mike A. Myer Stadium in Austin, Texas. The team ran the race in 39.38 seconds and finished 22nd in the nation overall.

    Running the event was Trejun Jones, Brock Appiah, Kashie Crockett, and Jamhad Booth. They bested the previous record of 39.51 set in 1972 by Porter, Gullet, Thompson, and Credeur.

    I remember watching that ‘72 team run a few times. Lots of speed. Congrats to this year’s relay team.

    Breaking a 50+ year old school record is great, and 39.38 is only 22nd?

    ….2 of the guys played football…. Creduer was about my same age when I coached him…..his military days delayed his playing!

    Boomer, do you remember Eric Trahan who was a hurdler for UL that was from Maurice . . . he now lives in Abbeville and is commonly known as “Auto Go Eric”

    North Vermilion was anything north of Forked Island

    Back then there was no North Vermillion . . . It was Meaux School, Maurice High School and Indian Bayou High School . . . I believe North Vermilion was built around 1982 . . .

    Correct.

    With VP being 2,500 square miles in size, "North Vermilion" meant something different back then.

    Before the school, it was just north Vermillion . . . and I can’t remember ever there being a single reference to north Vermillion . . .
