That's good to hear. Let's see how long he stays.
Good player. Would be a steal.
ST. MARTINVILLE – Before the start of the season, St. Martinville’s Steven Blanco thought about what he wanted to accomplish.
Although it didn’t require a lot of thought, Blanco’s goals turned out to be quite lofty.
In his junior campaign, Blanco wanted to help lead the Tigers to the state finals, while rushing for more than 2,000 yards on the season.
Although the Tigers fell short of their goal of reaching the dome, Blanco did achieve his individual rushing total goal, as he finished with 2,230 yards and 30 touchdowns on 159 carries.
“I feel like the season was good,” Blanco said. “I wanted to hit that 2,000-yard marker and my offensive line did a great job of helping me get there.”
For his efforts and accomplishments this season, Blanco has been named the 2022 Acadiana Advocate All-Metro Small School Offensive Most Valuable Player.
“I’m very thankful and grateful to be named the Offensive MVP,” Blanco said. “I’m surprised to receive the honor, but I’m grateful. “
Blanco, who has established himself among the elite running backs in the state, credits his teammates, coaches, and his hard work for his success.
“My offensive line did a great job of opening up holes for me to run through,” Blanco said. “Those guys upfront gave me space to run, and my job was just to hit the holes. Without those guys upfront blocking for me, there’s no way I’m able to do what I did.”
