Thread: UL added $2.7 billion to Louisiana economy

  1. #1

Default UL added $2.7 billion to Louisiana economy

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette contributed about $2.7 billion to the statewide economy during the 2021-2022 fiscal year, an independent economic impact study found.

We discussed the impact students make on the local economy on the podcast. I will be making a push to our Diamond Club members to get involved in recruiting more members. It is time for the community to start supporting the university the way the university supports the community.

…..M-rock, been waiting for a long time for this…BUT-first it needs to be pointed out that the impact is for the STATE and this will increase credence of our being rewarded with the Louisiana/UL name…..next the impact needs to be an ACADIANA AREA advantage and that we are the university of this area where many employees and students actually live…and yes Lafayette itself like maybe a short term sales tax to finish any needed academic/athletic projects to help our image….and can we find the effect that the nation wide appearances by the football bowl game, basketball tourney, baseball tourney, and softball tourney had on the area??? WE HELP THE CITY, AREA, AND STATE——-NOW HELP US!

spread this, great news.....but I would spread the advocate edition. Why link a paper that does not support and cover our athletic success.

Here's the link to the Acadiana Advocate article

A story about Louisiana contributing to the state should at least use Louisiana.

It is time for the state to start supporting the university the way the university supports the state.

Catchphrase suggestion. (I like em all)

"It is time for the State of Louisiana to start endorsing and supporting "LOUISIANA" the way the University supports the State."

Well outside of about 25000 people this state and city despises us.

It takes a press release by the University for local media to hopefully pick up the story.

Local media's true commission should be to generate these stories on their own.

If it's not a fake Easter Bunny front page story that runs for a week nonstop, or a Primate Research Center scandal with several front page stories, they don't write stories about all the good the school does for the area.

It's no wonder the area isn't fond of their biggest benefactor. Ignorance.

Agreed, part ignorance and part naivety . . . Both very unfortunate . . .
