Thread: Great Movies what say you?

  1. #1

Default Great Movies what say you?

    I will start with mine

Number 1. Casablanca. Great dialogue. A bit cheesy in spots.

Number 2. Ben Hur. Great story, great music by Miklos Rozas. He had to create Roman music because it wasn't written.

Number 3. Lawrence of Arabia. Great story, great acting.

    Then in no particular order

Patton . There was no way George C Scott was not going to win the academy award. As historically accurate as a movie could be.

The outlaw Josey Wales. " Wish we had time to bury them fellas". To hell with them fellas......buzzards gotta eat same as worms".. Man with a vendetta and nothing else to do.

Bullit....Steve McQueen. Enough said. Not one chase scenes but 3.

Forrest Gump....a movie about everything and nothing. A movie about life. And that's all I have to say about that.

To kill a mockingbird.... Gregory Peck.

    Gandhi..... Great story...great acting

Gotta have a Hitchcock movie so I pick North by Northwest. Psycho not far behind.

Trivia question…how many wheel covers are lost by the Mustang during the big chase scene in Bullitt?

Other trivia question in Bullitt, how many times in the chase scene they pass the same VW?

I’m pretty sure Helmut knows the answer to the first question.

Good list. I don't think they could make blazing saddles today..

I think it was the same wheel cover twice.

    Don't know about the VW.

Surprised that Shawshank hasn't made it into this thread yet. #1 movie in my book.

Yes but if you take away the special effects there is not much there. Kind of like auto tune in music.

Not a movie person . . . Sports and News and the way News is going pretty much only sports . . .

The Mustang loses none because it had none (black factory mag wheels). The Charger however is shown losing 6 (which is an editing error since they never stopped and put them back on). VW appears 4 times.

Other trivia…I forgot the guy’s name but the driver of the Charger was a professional stunt driver. He was friends with James Dean. Long story short, he was following Dean when Dean had his fatal wreck, and removed him from the wreckage.

Enjoy the badge of honor about the B&W movies. Everything doesn’t need the Michael Bay “let’s blow stuff up” touch. Or the constant insertion of the agenda of the day.

    Titanic.
    A Streetcar named desire
Indiana Jones (the first one not the series)
