Thread: From Beyond Left Field

UL Baseball From Beyond Left Field

So, we're on the bubble. I worry, the committees lean heavily toward the P5.

But that brings up a question: How much influence does ESPN have over the process?

Everyone involved, including ESPN, would insist they have no influence. Do we believe that? Do we really believe that if ESPN has the chance to encourage regional match-ups that would draw more eyeballs (= revenue), they wouldn't call a few people, make a few suggestions?

Because we know that that half-million viewership for the UL-State softball finals had to raise eyebrows at ESPN. Do we think that they wouldn't be interested in the possibility of a repeat in baseball, with a lot more eyeballs?

Just a wild idea. Who knows?

Well, all it takes for our happiness in baseball is to get our number called. Girls had that in the bag.

Well certainly if our name pops up, it will be a very welcome surprise. We most certainly wouldn’t be upset about going anywhere they decide to put us. Ladies on the other hand expected a host bid, so it is a completely different situation. But yes, we most certainly hope they are happier than the ladies were.

Espn has nothing to do with who gets in and who doesn't.
