Thread: These 4 Louisiana Softball Teams.....

  1. Default These 4 Louisiana Softball Teams.....

What a year for the state of Louisiana softball. Currently 5 teams are in the top 100 from the state of Louisiana, but more importantly 3 are in the top 50 with another one just short.

UL is currently #8 according to D1 Softball
LSU is currently #11 according to D1 Softball
McNeese is currently #30 according to D1 Softball and should be playing in a Super Regional
SLU is currently #54 according to D1 Softball and gave McNeese all they could handle.
La Tech is currently #99 according to D1 Softball.

D1 Softball is a real time RPI website, so these have all changed after the Regionals this weekend. To think that 2 Southland teams are top 55 and UL and LSU are sitting between 8-11, that speaks volumes for how good the state of Louisiana softball is.

I know there are teams like Nicholls, ULM, Northwestern, Grambling and Southern who are not very good. But the top 4-5 teams in the state are pretty damn good.

But nobody is as good as the Cajuns, at least not this year.

ULM is not in the top 100, but at 117 they are actually pretty decent this year. Their new coach [2nd year this season] has done a great job, elevating the program from "dumpster fire" to "a bit above average". If they hold on to her, I expect they will continue to improve. I would not be at all surprised to see them with an RPI in the 80's next year.

Their continued improvement will be very good news for collegiate softball in the state, and for all the members of the SBC [including us].

I agree with you and am happy for them that they are improving their program. We need them to improve their program because it helps us and our conference!

We do not ever want to be like TSAB (I love this now that I know what it means!). They are afraid of competition; they will do whatever they can to belittle their competition. You see it everyday in their fans.

I hope we NEVER get like them.
