    Per the Cambridge Dictionary:
    Eke out something
    phrasal verb
To obtain or win something only with difficulty or great effort.

I do believe that describes both of the Cajuns' wins yesterday to a tee.

if the “pointer” had been ejected would she also be out and the run not count?

Depends on when the ejection take place. If she would have been tossed mid-trot, then yes, she would have been out and her run would not have counted. However, if the umpires were going to eject her during that sequence, I imagine they would have waited for her to cross the plate before then tossing her.

Regardless, had it been called a HR, the game would have been tied, Cajuns would still have had a chance to win it in the bottom of the seventh. They were the home team in the first game yesterday.
Mike, what they said was the ball was over the foul pole. Meaning it was above the foul pole's highest point. There is no way they make a determination where the ball crossed the foul line.

Something that surprised me during the Jourdyn Campbell "intentional walk" at-bat ...

After the initial passed ball that was a strike, Berzon threw two intentional balls where one was over the plate but low ... and the second was just off of the plate but up. She was obviously struggling to frame the intentional balls well outside of the plate. On 2-1, Berzon delivered a batting practice pitch on the outside corner for a strike (though it was obviously meant to be an intentional ball), bringing the count to 2-2. Now at that point, Jordyn was probably wondering if LSU was attempting to fool her into thinking it was an intentional walk. And with two strikes, she obviously had to protect herself (which she did in glorious fashion).

But if I am LSU at that point, I am not intentionally walking Campbell. I am going to attempt to get her to fish for something off of the plate. The worst thing that can happen is that you end up walking Campbell (after two more pitches ... two attempts to get a K). But Berzon and LSU did the worst thing they could have done ... floated another batting practice pitch over the plate and the rest is history.

same thing happened in 1990 LHSAA AAAA football state semifinals, extra point was “over” the upright poll, and resulted in a no good call, i.e. FOUL is correct in the case.

did the catcher step out early or stand too far on any of the pitches, i.e. an illegal pitch call

There were no illegal pitch calls. Every pitch was legal.

no calls because no infraction, or just no calls?
