The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of the 2023 season, there are 10 conferences and 133 schools in FBS. (133/4000= 3.3%)

……Hey guys….our goal should be the big 12 ……that is what we need….we have the facilities (less stadium), the academic standards, a growing sometimes enrollment, a growing endowment, etc…….we need more money and fans in the stands for football and basketball……I’m thinking that the conference members playing here would solve these 2 parts…..there are athletes in Louisiana and there is only one P-5….The geography factor works very well for UL…..oh I forgot to mention that the conference members would all be playing LOUISIANA! Our goal awaits, let’s SET IT!
