There has been a lot complaints about the way the university is referenced to by the media and academic arenas. To find out what is allowed I went to the Louisiana.edu website and found this is what has been provided to the media as to the proper use of the university's name:

UL Lafayette is the approved academic abbreviation for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as per the university itself. Louisiana is athletics nickname. Note neither ULL or UL-Lafayette is to be used in any instance (Listed under Inaccurate References). Don't blame the academic departments or Alumni Association for using UL Lafayette as they are allowed to.

How are Alumni Asoc and Departments allowed to use UL-Lafayette, when it is forbidden to use? Is it the hyphen?

Let's just lean on Bishop to get a bill filed and finish this damn mess. University of Louisiana. We've never been in a better spot to do this. We have as much Acadiana representation and as much influence as we've ever had. Page Cortez and Stuart Bishop need to step up and finish this name nonsense for good.
