“Should”s and reality sometimes just don’t align. Chris Reed has made a living on the airwaves in this city while openly maintaining his disdain for the local university.

So when the Cajuns beat lsu in baseball and KATC used UL Lafayette instead of Louisiana like they normally do, they rightfully got called out and all the lsu fans mocked and criticized Cajuns fans for pointing out the issue. Yet here we are with this blatant hypocrisy and disrespect. Who are the petty ones now?
Thank you so much for posting this. The idea of “we won” the name fight is far from over. Don’t stop and don’t ever give up.

And my goodness…”the LSU board and politicians”. This is exactly what is wrong with Louisiana. With UL earning the R1 status, you can bet those tools want to take or sabotage what UL has now. They’ve done it to UL before, they’ll do it again. Maybe they’ll outlaw any university other than TSAB pursuing excellence.

Listing the sponsors for his show on here is a good idea. Once we have the list send a note to the manager saying there is an effort by Cajun fans to organize a boycott of all those sponsors. Note she used ULL repeatedly in a response to MAT email. She is alsta Will Wade fan.

Moscona's a good radio host, but I wonder how many people in Acadiana who are already listening to him on WNXX or via the WNXX app are going to switch to KLWB to listen to the same show.

This is a golden opportunity for the folks at KPEL and TSM to capitalize on a programming misstep by their competition. I'll be interested to see what happens next.
Ian, I recognize you now work in New Orleans which is mostly an LSU town. However I am surprised to hear you say you are neutral as you are one of our broadcasters still.

"Neutral" refers my observations on KLWB's programming decisions, especially considering that I'm no longer in the Lafayette market on a full-time basis.

For what it's worth, Charlie and I do our best to mention the Cajuns on WWL as often as possible. I can't speak for anyone else, but when I do reference the Cajuns in my newscasts (as I did yesterday when discussing the softball brackets), it's always "Louisiana."

Thanks so much for your efforts on the behalf of our university. I lived in New Orleans in 80’s and 90’s. I understand how much of an LSU town it is.

Most, if not all advertisers on any Delta platform have no idea they're running spot on 103.7...most of what you hear day to day there are businesses that have purchased a multi station package on Delta to include trade spots and no charge/bonus spots. Delta is making an upgrade, they recognize an upgrade can be monitized. A sponsor boycott will not move the needle...What will move the needle is calling or emailing the local owner, Charles Chatlain...you may get traction there...

Years ago, the school did an incredibly bad job of explaining to the public, the correct and legal use of it's name and by extension, brand...even today, it's comical to see all of the name variations used by various departments etc, on campus...looking at you alumni association...UL is happless to correct any of this, now, in the past, or future...

As I've said many times, a gentlemen and a scholar. Continue fighting the good fight. You're on the right side of history.

Do you have contact information for Charlie Chatlain? He might be interested to know his station is currently taking a beating on social media.

Unpopular opinion that might get me called names, including, but not limited to, a fraud….

It’s going to be okay. Most people don’t even listen to sports radio. If you do, and you don’t want to listen to LSU stuff or whatever he’s talking about, switch stations. The market will figure itself out.

It’s one show and one radio station. We are going to be okay. The world is not ending.

    Geaux Louisiana.

I disagree that the market will figure it out. Big money will figure it out just like the national media. Not necessarily what the majority want to see or hear but what we are force fed based on big money sponsors.
