How long is too long?
I don’t know the details but with the weather what it was, and probably being sure the delay would be the minimum 30 minutes, I would venture to say that Christie likely stayed loose throwing a few pitches around the 15 minute mark, which makes it basically like being in the dugout for a long offensive inning.
This staff is VERY thin. Trying to get as much as you can out of the few guys that have been reliable is exactly what the staff should be doing.
Would you not agree?
Last pitch of the top of the 7th was at the 1:55 mark. He was warming up for the 8th at the 3:08 mark. This isn’t time before you try to spin this. It’s the clock on the replay so that I can be precise. That is 1 hour and 13 minutes. No I don’t agree and it doesn’t really need an explanation.
I didn’t realize it was that long. And to answer the original question I was surprised he came back out. But again, if it was that long, it probably wasn’t a great idea. But that’s without knowing what he was doing during the break.
I’m glad he was able to do it though. I don’t have much confidence in anyone else that would have been used to finish that game. Even with a 9 run lead.
