Key stats so far this weekend. 4 walks, 1 hbp, 0 errors. We just won a series against a team with a winning record for the first time all year. We are talented and can be very good if we put it together. We are getting hot at the right time and I doubt anyone is looking forward to playing us in the tourney. Let’s finish strong and geaux win the damn thing.
All true. My point was that there’s a whole crew on here trashing the coaches and players for anything negative. And not even a game thread when things are going well.

To that point, Deggs deserves a ton a credit for sticking with guys that everyone was saying should be on the bench, myself included. Veillon has improved his numbers considerably. Nezuh has been really good in his recent outings. And Marusak has been on an All American level in the second half of the season.

First 26 games, Max was hitting .151. In the last 25, he’s hitting .378 with 6 HRs. That’s an incredible turn around.

To be fair, Higgs sitting on the bench the first half of the season doesn’t look good.

As far as the pitching goes, and it’s been discussed as nauseam, it’s been very hit or miss, just like the majority of teams across the country. But in the coaches’ defense, your opening night starter has missed time. Your #2 has barely pitched and is likely done for the season. And the same for your best bullpen arm. That’s tough to deal with.

As we all know, this team is capable of beating anyone, anywhere. Maybe they end the year on a crazy good run?

    Any thoughts on team chemistry….

3 consecutive bunt singles, a 450ft homer, a 2-run error, and a 42-minute weather delay. Today's Cajun baseball game had all that and more.

This team is coming together nicely. We said all year we could beat anyone and lose to anyone. Let’s hope the inconsistency will now turn into that consistency from now and through the SBC tournament.

Kind of like last year. Two weekends back, making the SBC tournament was up in the air. Today, it’s a lock. Just hope not peaking too soon.

Anyone who bet we’d win last year’s tournament after that TXST sweep would have been silly.

I think we’re playing a bit better currently than we were this time last year.

The bats are good. Defense great. Just need some dudes on the mound to stand up like they did in a massive way last year.

Win or lose tomorrow. USM will give us a final barometer. Easy to say, I guess.

I went to softball and wasn’t able to start watching until after the break today. What did you think about Christie’s outing? Just the one walk in 4. I know they tattooed him after the break, but I’d rather a guy go out and make a team earn their way back when pitching with a lead. Rawls seemed to have the same approach Friday. Gave up 2 quick hits but kept finding the zone and worked out of it.

Just realized that Christie threw 94 pitches with the break in there between his first and last 2 innings. That’s a little unconventional, no? Seems like a lot of times teams will go to a different arm after a prolonged break. I’m guessing that had something to do with him getting hit like that. Those 2 innings aside this has been some of the most complete ball we’ve played against a quality opponent all year. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come from here on out.

As to your point about the lack of posts, there’s definitely a portion of that attributable to there just not being anything to complain about in fairly dominant wins. Unfortunately, it seems some just kinda checked out for the year as well. Once it hits that tournament or bust mentality, it’s hard to keep people locked in during the regular season. Ask any of us 12 basketball fans still around.

The lack of posts when things are going well happens in every sport. Not just here but on virtually all fan boards. It is human nature to offer suggestions for improvement when things get rough. That is a more positive way to look at things vs saying there are lots of complaints.

    THIS!!

We gave up 5 runs late in the game tempting the baseball gods. Fortunately, we went long enough before starting the thread that we were ok and still won.

Not much to complain about or to rip the team because they might miss the SBC tourney. So I guess that’s why there’s no thread.
My concern is that we are allowing late inning runs, Friday had a shut out til they eight, the score 3, then Saturday, 9-0 up to 8th, they score 3 and 2 in 9th. If it weren’t for huge leads, we could have lost due to late inning rallies by other team. I hope coaching gets this figured out
